How to Make Money From Blogging

Blogging for money is not easy to do and takes a lot of time/work to make happen.  I have been reading up lately on some people that are able to do it.

It takes the dedication of updating your blog content on a regular basis (which is a daunting task in itself!), and being smart about your blog choices and advertising.  Your income from blogging is going to come from advertising.  There is just no way around it. 

I know that we all want to be idealists and not have to sell ourselves like that, but the fact remains that we live in a capitalist society and if you want money from your blog, that's what you have to do.

I currently only run adsense on my blog, but there are a lot of other options.  I'm thinking about mixing things up and trying some different options.  Here is a problogger post on this topic that might help you out.

The other things you need to think about are naming, design, content, and hosting options.  It's tough to figure out what people are going to want to read about and what they'll click on to get to your website.  You have to come up with content that people want to read and make your site easy to navigate.  Here's an excellent blog post from Christian PF on this topic. 

If it is something you want, then definitely go for it.  Just be prepared for the fact that you have your work cut out for you.
